How to write a medical CV is different from writing a normal CV. The medical
profession has its own specific characteristics. You need to include them in your medical CV.
Follow the steps below and your
medical CV will be ready in no time at all. Each step corresponds to a
section in your CV. They are in the same order as they will appear in your CV.
1: Full name,
titles and the complete address
In the upper left corner, start with your full name followed by your titles. The titles
indicate your level of education like MBBS or BSc. You can write multiple titles one after
another.
Right below your name, write your complete physical address, your phone number and your email
address.

Profile
Next, include a "Profile" section. Describe in 1 or 2 paragraphs your moral traits. Write for
example that you are hard working, you have great time management skills and you want to
further improve in a certain medical area of expertise.
3: Education
qualificationsList the schools you attended. Add the qualifications you obtained and the
years you spent in each school.
4: GMC
statusGMC is an unique identifier. It shows that you are registered as a medical
practitioner. Write it down and add to it the institution that registered you.
5: Medical
membershipsList the medical institutions that have you as a member.
6: Employment
HistoryYou need to write 3 things: 1) the name of the employer and his business address 2)
the grade and speciality you had while you worked there and 3) the beginning and the end dates
of the period you worked there. Any time you think about how to write a medical CV, you should
remember to include this section.
7: Skills and
ProficienciesList your medical skills. First, write a list of the most important
conditions that you can treat like: acute asthma attack, seizures, poisoning etc. Second, list
the procedures that you are qualified to perform like for example: chest drain insertion,
interpreting films like X-rays etc.
8: Teaching
experienceDescribe in this section your experience with teaching others your skills.

AuditsMention the most important audits you had. Explain briefly their conclusions and
anything else you found important.
10:
PublicationsWrite the name of the publications that have you as a contributor. Mention
when your contributions appeared, the publications' ISBN codes, web links and any other useful
information.
11: Management
experienceDescribe who you managed. If you can, you should prove that you did your job
well. Your proof comes from the results achieved by the team you managed.
12: Career
goalWrite a description of the short term and long term view of your career.

HobbiesList your hobbies and interests outside work.
14:
RefereesThe referees are important people in the medical field who have good things to say
about you. They may be your past employers, friends you collaborated on different medical
projects or personalities who have reviewed your work in the past. It's important to let these
people know that you mentioned them in your CV.
How to write a medical CV involves simply putting in one place the above 14 section. Go through
all of them. Use a simple and descriptive language.
